Wanton Waste?

I have seen posts (ads) on other sites informing people of free fish. It appears some people fish just for the fun of capturing something that they have no intention of keeping for themselves or doing C & R. I know its rough fish (cause they advertise that also) but isn't this essentially advertising wanton waste?

I am not sure if they still do it or not but they used to have a commercial fishing company come to a lake near where I live and net carp. Lots of carp!! The company had large transport trucks that I assume took the fish for processing of some type. I don't consider this wanton waste and neither did the DNR because you have to have a permit to do it and the DNR monitors the netting. What I consider wanton waste is the sport fisherman who loads his freezer with his catch and then lets it freezer burn to the point that it has to be thrown out.

If someone has a desire for "rough fish" then let take what they need or can use.

When I hear about people killing Bowfin and throwing them out it really bothers me. It's one thing to kill invasive and potentially destructive species like carp, I'm ok with that, but Bowfin are an indigenous species that have been in most lakes since long before walleyes or bass were. If you're not going to eat them, let them go.
