Just bought something I never thought I would...

After 1+ seasons of my brother using the ugliest, most pathetic decoy I've every seen in my life, I bit the bullet and bought one yesterday. I thought he painted a jokesters rubber chicken. When he showed it to me and I fought back laughter at the time. About an hour later his friend shot a 2 year old bird racing to the "Funky Chicken" decoy. Two days later he shot another 2 year old that flew over to attack it and knocked it off it's stake. Last weekend he had two toms run in and attack it again and his son shot a nice 3 year old bird. I guess this thing looks pretty pathetic to real gobblers too but instead of running away they kick into bully mode.

I don't use decoys often, but when I do it's a jake. I usually use a strutting jake that I have replaced the fan with a real turkey fan and this works well at times. But some birds shy away from it. Thought I'd add this less intimidating option for a back up if I choose to use a decoy.

Anyone else have a friend of family use something outrageous that actually worked?

Sorry Borch, I don't care how well this thing works, there's no way I'm gonna hunt over something that silly looking. Aren't you afraid they'll take away your man card for carrying that thing?

I'll put one out next to a DSD jake and see which one the toms come to first. Could save guys some $ on their next decoy purchase if it works good as Borch is saying. Would look killer in some long grass w/ a jake fan staked in behind it.

Well, real men don't use decoys in the first place so It's kind of a slippery slope already.

Btw, you should see some of the purdy salmon spoons I use. More manly to catch fish than just drive the boat around.
