leroy77
I have a old superwinch that I would like to use to raise and lower my front mounted thatcher. My problem is it is the winch only. I've tried to find a owners manual online so I can wire it but cant find one. I think I need a solenoid also but have no idea what kind to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The winch says superwinch EM1 model 1157. Any diagrams or part numbers would be helpful. Thanks!
Macgyver55
They normally have a twist style switch that mounts on the end of the winch on the two studs that are there. If you have the switch its a simple hook up to battery power. If not, you would need to either buy one (about 55 bucks on the bidding site) or buy a contactor solenoid kit (better way to go) with every thing you need for about 61 bucks. The twist ones are not nearly as durable or convenient. I have a superwinch manual laying around if you want it, but it doesn't really show any diagrams other than how to hook up the supplied switch. Most, if not all winches use a similar hook up, so You would need to decide and acquire whatever switching method you choose and it will likely have instructions.
