2002 Yamaha pitot question?

Anybody know anything about a 2002 Yamaha pitot? A friend of mine says the pitot might be clogged making the dashboard speedometer not work.

Anybody have any idea's?

A pitot is just a tube that faces forward and runs to the speedometer on the console. The faster you go the more pressure goes up the tube.

If the tube gets plugged with a little piece of crud, the speedometer won't work. To fix it, look down at the lower unit when the boat is out of the water. You will see a small hole somewhere facing forwards pretty far down near where the prop is. It might well have a little black tube coming from the other side of lower unit going up towards the console.

First try sticking a small wire in the hole to see if it is plugged. Otherwise maybe you can disconnect it somewhere and blow compressed air back towards the motor.
