Helpe me better understand this lake

During Bass opener, I plan to hit a small canoe access only lake. Lake is clear. It has two areas of 24ft and 1 island. The rest is all shallow areas of 1-5ft. During opener, if the bass are still breeding, would they be in the shallow to deep transition areas?

I have fished this lake in the past during opener, mid summer, late summer, morning, afternoon and day, and I cannot seem to "predict" their movements and locations.

Thanks.

This is a great topic and I hope others will share their opening weekend game plan.

For me I actually start with the deepest weed I can find in the lake, assuming this year it will be last years weed growth, and work my way shallow as the day progresses and the temp increases(hopefully that is). North side of the lake usually will have warmest surface temps, leftover Lilly pad flats are my second stop, again I work it from outside in. if there's any inlets our outlets I would also work those areas, in addition to the points and break line adjacent to any spawning bays.

Potential to find fish in a foot of water to as deep as main break into lakes basin with a late spring. I tend to hit smaller dark bottom lakes, 100-300 acre lakes, early in the year that realistically I can fish dang near the whole lake though.

Bed fishing is my 1st plan.

Then a rock point leading to a known spawning flat.

Will also fish a dark soft bottom bay that the fish move into to feed.

Mostly a wait a see what the weather does. If May is really warm the lake I fish on opener could be post spawn, since it is small and shallow and warms up quick.

Yes, guilty as charged. I was initially thinking of two lakes I start out on in Turtle Lake, WI area on WI opener.

Weather and temperature changes between now and opener can change things drastically. Case in point last year WI opener the first lake I fish every year was still half covered in ice, I only caught a few fish on a jerk bait on a small flat in front of a spawning bay/area, depth was maybe 4' deep, really struggled to get bit, water temps were in mid 40's if I remember correctly, heck half the lake was still covered in hard water. Two years ago, same lake we laid waste to them in 6-8 feet of water on a main lake break line on Trigged stick baits.
