Lake map sd cards

Chris Barlage

Question

I am going to upgrade the electronics on my boat but am noticing that the new lowrance units are using micro sd cards no. I have a few older cards that I use now but they are all regular sd cards. I have tried just plugging them into my pc and copying the cards to micro sd cards. The units recognize the cards but do not read the data. Anyone know how or if I can transfer that data to a micro sd card so that I don't have to buy 2 new cards.

I'm pretty sure they are copy write locked!

They make EVERYTHING these days, the adapter does exist to go from SD to MicroSD but I have no idea if it works, never tried one.

Not very waterproof, that's for sure.

There's some on the big auction site, otherwise you should be able to Google it, you don't find these at any of the mainstream stores.

Ahh, bit of the black market item? whistle

I did a search on the adaptor and they make some with a long cord so that you could keep that out of waters way. Might have to give on of those a try and see if a guy could get the door over the card slot to still close with that in there. I would not want that big stick adaptor hanging out of my plotter and risk water getting all over that or inside the card slot.

Have you tried contacting Lakemaps to see if they will let you upgrade. I found them to be pretty flexible a few years ago ... it'd be worth a call or email. That way you'd have the latest map sets also.

So in trying to do more research did I just read right that if I have 2 units networked together that I only need mapping software in one of the units and that they will share that info. So my main unit with the card in it will share the contour depths to the other unit that is networked but does not have a card in it?
