Shimano baitcasters

bronzeback01,
I don't think you can go wrong with the Curado. The "basic" Curado 200B is a really nice reel. It comes in 6.2, 5.1, and 3.8 gear ratios, with super stopper anti-reverse and right or left retrieve, plus a few models with the super free system. Smooth casting and smooth cranking. I have used the 200B for 3 years and have to say it is an excellent reel and everyone says it is very durable and will give many years of service.

Also check out my "Kmart Curado's" post which is a few post down from yours. Seems like most Kmart's have all their fishing stuff, including Curado's, on clearance sale right now. Start your spending spree at Kmart first. Should be able to get them for $106 or less at Kmart which is a heck of a deal for a reel that normally priced $119 and up based on the model. For the $120 price point, I don't think you can find a reel that can compete with the Curado over the long haul.

I'm sure there are lot's of other folks with much more Shimano experience than I that will chime in.

I love shimano reels. I own lots o curados and a couple chronarchs. They are great reels. Smooth, durable, and function flawlessly. I was in Fleet Farm today and they have Shimano Curado 200b's on SALE for $109.99. K-Mart is selling the 100B for $105 but there were none left and they wouldn't give me a rain check. That figures!
Also Fleet Farm had the Symetry Spinning Reels on Sale for $74.99 I had to pick up some of them too. grin.gif

Well good luck and Happy Fishing smile.gif

I would have to agree, shimano spinning reels are the smoothest on the market, and wouldn't own antything else in a spinning reel. Although for bait casters, I still like my trusty Ambassaduers. They have never let me down especially when the pressure is on.

Just My $.02

I've owned a bunch over the years, Diawa, Garcia, Mitchel, and Shimano. I still own a couple of old Shimanos that have been through hell and still work great. I also have a couple of Calcuttas that get used almost exclusively. LOVE EM!!!! My buddies have the Corados and love those as well. I don't think you'll go wrong with either one.

If you do decide to go with the curado, i would definately recommend spending the few x-tra bucks and get the super-free. I have owned curado's for years but upgraded to all s/f's after trying one, they are smoother and cast further

I'm a BIG Shimano fan as well. Curado 200, Bantam Mag Plus 250X, Catala 300, Corsair 200, (2) Sedona's. But I have a question for you. If you've been a Quantum user for a while and you're willing to show some money why aren't you looking at the "PT" series? My Bro-in-law has the Energy version and it's awesome! I'd own one in a heartbeat if I was in the market. Not to say I wouldn't buy another Curado or 2 cause they're awesome too. Just curious...
