How do you spread the feed

Recommended Posts

I am going up on Sunday and am wondering how you are supposed to deal with the feed. MDHA HSOforum doesn't have any info. My thought is to use the snowmobile to flatten out an area and then just put it in pile. Would it be better to put it under some pine or something to try and keep the snow off it? Any benefit in spreading out some bales of hay or anything else?

Thanks for your time.

Not in a pile, that's the last thing you want to do. If you call the corporate office they can give you better instructions.

I always leave the bales wrapped. if you take the twine off they will eat them way to fast!

IMO twined round bales are the only way to feed winter deer if you are going to dump and leave... squares, corn or whatever else doesn't work unless you live nearby and can babysit it. I do feed a few thousand pounds of pumpkins/squash as well and they work to leave. Corn piles are not a good idea... especially now, your deer will bloat and die!
