I have a 2000 polaris 500 xc sp and was thinking about trying the ditch bangin class next week in the elk river grassroots snocross events. Do you think that I would be able to even keep up with my sled. Just lookin to have fun next year I'm planning on getting an iqr 600.

A lot would depend on your riding ability, the condition of the sled, especially the shocks, and if you have it set up properly. Compared to today's sleds it might be tough to"keep up" but hey its fun and it ain't a race! Go for it!

Pretty sure I saw a early 2000's model Ski Doo MXZ running the I500 a couple weeks ago on our trip to Lake of the Woods, had to do a double take and ask the guys in the truck behind us if that's what I really saw!

Sure it can be done, I'd have to have a lot of Tylenol on hand at the end of the day

What size sleds are allowed in the class?

You won't keep up with the old 440 race sleds, and the new 600s are quite a bit faster. But give it a whirl and see what happens! I remember my first race like it was an hour ago. Have fun!

It's open to any factory trail sleds up to 600cc liquid cooled. Any years. I don't expect to do good but I just wouldn't want to be miles behind.

You'll do fine. The 600s aren't much (if any) faster than 500s on a snocross track. And Tucker Hibbert would very likely smoke the 600s on a kitty cat!
