Polaris Wiring help

Okay, I so bought a 97 Indy 500. Everything is great, rebuilt motor and runs great. I bought a new helmet that has a heated shield on it and need to wire the cable into the sled so I can utilize the helmet. I was told by a friend that I should try and tap into the wiring that is in the handle bars. I know that Polaris uses yellow wires for hot and brown for ground, but the wires in my handle bars are blue, blue/red and brown. Has anyone every done this and used these wires to wire up the cords for a heated visor?

I believe the wires you are talking about are the actual hand warmer wires. I would not tap into those because it may cause an issue with the hand warmers not working right when the shield is on, or the shield may not get hot enough since those wires are on a resistor circuit. You would be better off running an extra wire up from the yellow under the hood where it's meant to be connected.
