SkunkedAgain
I've got a group of 8-10 guys that all want to ice fish toward the end of February (Eelpout weekend). We don't really care the direction, the drive time, or lake but just want some decent walleye/northern/panfish action. Of course, it'd be nice to at least all be together at night for cards, drinks, and tell lies.Knowing that there aren't many 8-10 man sleepers around, does anybody have suggestions of good resorts/lodges that have options for a big room or two with dayhouse rentals? Only a few of us have sleds/ATVs so we'd probably need a plowed road or resort transportation to the fishing holes. Thanks
lindy rig
I've never really had great luck late Feb, so curious to see the suggestions myself.
fishnowworknever
Lake of the woods would be your best bet for perch, pike, sauger and walleyes.Leech might be OK too, not sure about rentals out there though.
PhilTickelson
I'd second the nomination for Lake of the Woods. Not much for panfish there, although you can occasionally get into a few perch. Lots of resorts to choose from that will rent you a cabin and then take you out to your day house on the ice every morning. I always recommend Arenesen's Rocky Point Resort, but I would call soon because there won't be a lot of availability.
Rooster7
There are lots of resorts that will meet your needs on the south shore of LOW.
borg0196
Lots of resorts on LOW, I know a couple that have rental cabins to fit that many, would just need to rent two sleeper houses if you want to stay over on the ice.
WalleyeVision
Lots of good options on Lake of the Woods. While it's true that fishing in February isn't as good as the early bite in December/early January there are still plenty of fish on Lake of the Woods. For a group as big as yours - a couple options are:Rainy River/Big Traverse Bay area:Ballards has a 7 bedroom cabin that would fit your groupBayview Lodge has a 4 bedroom cabin with 8 twin bedsSlims Resort has a cabin called "The Governor's Mansion" that has 7 single beds, a double bed and a queen bed with a big living room area for cards that overlooks the Rainy RiverSporstman's Lodge has some really cool new Villas that would fit your group in one cabinWheelers Point has a couple cabins that would accommodate 8 guysWigwam also has a few cabins with 8 - 11 beds.Bostic BayCyrus Resort has a couple 4 bedroom cabins with 9 twin beds eachMuskeg BaySpringsteel Resort has a 4 bedroom cabin with 8 single bedsNorthwest Angle:Sunset Lodge has a new Condo that has 8 bedsIf you want to go the sleeper fish house route - Nels at Fred's Beds has some options that fit up to 8 (out of Morris Point)I have some pictures of each of the resorts including the cabins and maps with locations of the resorts if you're interested.
