$350 is still pretty spendy. A HBS is on my list of purchases for this year. Luckily you can get gift certificates ao you dont have to drop all that cash at one time. You can also try to win one on Free suit Fridays on the Facebook site.

They are wonderful for cold weather hunts-really comfortable. The biggest drawback in my opinion is they are awkward to put on in a tree stand. I use ladder stands and it takes a little while to get it over your other clothes and you have to make sure your safety harness attachment to the tree is over your head, otherwise it will cause problems getting your suit zipped up. Hunting from the ground or a ground blind would be no problem at all. I also use the blaze orange overlay for rifle season. The zippers are really quiet for getting ready to shoot. I definitely recommend them.

Still way cheaper than Sitka jacket and bibs combined.

I agree, as I get older it gets harder to sit for long periods. It also gets harder to climb into tree stands, and a bulky body suit reduces mobility even more once you get up there, not to mention the gymnastics to get it on once you are up in a tree with a 2X2 platform to work on.

I've decided to go with ground blinds. A nice little Mr. Heater Buddy, and/or an old army sleeping bag to zip into (that you can get at any thrift store), and a nice comfy chair or stool.

I can sit all day!

There is also a heated jacket you can get. Menards has them on sale right now for $139 - pretty cheap. Lot's of guys I know that work construction have them. They even come in camo. If you pack in a spare battery they can last all day, and they're similar to a regular jacket.

Minky,

Check out the IWOM suit. Better than the HBS... especially if bow hunting. Borrowed an HBS, and while I was warm, it was bulky and darn near useless bowhunting. Too hard to get out of in a hurry and then once you get the bow... you are out of suit on draw, after a few minutes at minus 10 temps I was getting cold... my buddy uses it for rifle and says he has had good luck with it then.

Looked at warmbag next, but again you have to get unzipped and too many complained they were only marginally warmer than not wearing it.

Did some research on IWOM. Decided this was the best option. Bought one and hunted twice in well below zero temps. New Years eve was -18 and I sat for almost 3 hours and can honestly say I was still 'warm'. I got down at sunset, not because I was cold. The top is a jacket, so no need to unzip, the bottom is a bag, keeping your core warm. Unbelievable built in hand muff to keep hands warm. Did not wear a glove on my release hand. You wear the suit to the stand like a jacket and drop the bag once in the stand and zip into that...

I will use it for all day rut hunts too. Windproof and waterproof! Great for all day sits and has a microscopic silver lining to control bacterial odors.

If you go with an IWOM, PM me. I have a promo code that will get you $50 off the price of a new one from the manufacturer.

Good Luck!

Ken
