FrontenacPike
Tonight as I was hooking my 7 for its nightly charge and I wondered if I was alone in my percharge preparation. Since day one I've been disconnecting the powerhead before connecting the charger.... Which is a pain! If I remember right, I read to disconnect the cables in the owners manual and haven't thought twice about it since the first day. Tonight it just hit me as I was dissasembeling my 7 and dinner was on the table waiting for me ... Really?
ssom08
I'm not sure how much the lx-6 differs from say a 7 or 9 when it comes to this. But I just plug mine in and charge it. There hasn't been any issues.
aczr2k
I've never unhooked the unit from the battery, actually I've never even heard that you were supposed to.
BlackLabGuy
I just plug it in and wait for the green light...
gwiff100
x2 and after an issue I had last summer with the pins on the back for the transducer getting bent and breaking off I will never unplug them again...
fishwater
I unplug the units leads from the battery and clip the charger directly to the battery terminals. I use lithium batteries and the chargers put out 4amps so I don't like to leave the head hooked up while that is going on.

You aren't supposed to unplug the transducer and power from the back of the head unit, just unhook the battery.I have never unhooked mine, the chargers amperage is so low that it really can't do any damage.
