Color underwater cameras

All of you that have color underwater cameras. Is the color worth it? Is the visibility any better with color? I can remember scuba diving and once you got below 15 feet the colors didn't come through anyway. I am looking at new cameras and not sure it is worth the added cost. What do you think?

no....color is not important. But I use mine for scouting and identifying. But if your the type that wants to watch "fish TV" color maybe nice. My aqua view mi cro is color but don't notice it much.

I was just skeptical if there is much color left at depths over 10 feet.

I think color is nice. Nice to know if the weeds are green or brown. You must also know that all manufactures color cameras turn black and white at deeper levels; depending on snow cover and the amount of light. I love my Aqua Vu plus camera for scouting and fishing.

Color is nice- Is it needed, no.. not really. Unless you are a shallow water panfisher looking for healthy green weeds. A lot of your top pan fishermen/women are now understanding the importance of weeds, and how had those fish can be to catch. Though are rewarded with size for their efforts.

But like you say, the deeper you get or the lack of light, you will loose color.

I rarely use it, but sometimes color shows a better picture on screen, so for me it's nice to have the option to turn it on/off but I wouldn't say it's needed at all..

The only reason I ask is because the black and white Marcum is 100 bucks less than the color.

Careful, if you are referring to the VS385 vs. the VS385c, there is more than just black and white versus color. The VS385C has the:

Sony Super HAD II CCD 1/3” image sensor .01 lux,

while the VS385 has the:

Sony Super HAD CCD, .05 lux camera,

As I understand it, the 385C has the same camera/image sensor as their top of the line camera, meanwhile the 385 does not. The difference in 'lux' is supposed to affect how well it performs in low light, and from what I heard, the 385c outperforms the 385 fairly significantly.

Not just because it's color, but because the camera has a better image sensor.

Regardless of which model you choose, if it's between those two I'd highly recommend getting the camera panner, it is extremely frustrating to use the camera without.

Great point on the LUX & the sensors making a big difference in what you get.

Do not forget about the higher end Aqua Vu 760c or the Aqua Vu 760cz (1/3” Sony CCD HD Image Sensor, 600 lines of resolution, 0.01 Lux cameras)

If I had the money, I would get the 760cz (digital zoom model). The digital zoom on my AV Micro plus is sweet!

Even the Aqua Vu 715c for a color camera at $299 is nice price.
