Minnow scoop/clamp

Chaws

Recommended Posts

My father is an avid fisherman and this spring he lost the tops of 3 fingers on one hand. He has no feeling in those fingers anymore and is having a heck of a time trying to bait a hook now. I had recalled seeing a gadget like this in the past but can't seem to find one. It was a minnow scoop that also would clamp or hold the minnow so you could easily run a hook through it. I believe it had kind of plastic fingers that would clamp down on the minnow. Any help finding one of these would be much appreciated.

Not the same thing you are talking about but there is something called "Quick Minnow" that might make things easier for him!

Otherwise I think there is a gadget that has a spring deal that holds your minnow in place without having to stick it with a hook.

Good Luck!

I've never used one of these little deals, but it's worth a shot for $7.

You might be able to cut a slit into one of the ends where the minnow is trapped and slide your hook into the minnow. Looks like there is an end for bigger minnows and one for larger minnows. Worth a shot! smile

Years ago I saw a scoop/clamp for willow cats.

Tried to search the internet but cannot find any info.

Maybe someone that fishes the river will have an idea.

Willow cats are like small bullheads and the clamp stopped you from getting stung.

ok looking at drawing...how do you get the minnow out once you have it hooked with that contraption & the line is attached? You would have to make a slice across the side or top that goes all the way back to where the minnow enters so you could pull it back out. It wouldn't be hard to build something like this out of 1/2" pvc pipe & a pvc T connector.
