ZapMan
Does anybody else have trouble with the cord wiggling out when the generator is running? I try to tie it up so the cord weight doesn't pull on the plug. I also have bent the prongs out slightly so there was more friction on the blades, but still unplugged over the weekend out on Red. Any after market add on or brackets?
Chad Holst
I have not had this happen to me, but i have a couple ideas on how to stop it. The first would be to get a 90 degree short extention like this... and then screw a snap holder like this... ...to clip the cord into, so it cant wiggle out. They make these for genny cables also. i just found a picture of a regular 110v to show what i was talking about. The other thing i was thinking you could do is screw on one of the plug cover doors that is spring loaded...you dont really need the "cover" part of it, but the trick is the bottum of those covers have a little tab that sticks out and hold the plug from backing out of the socket. I couldnt find a picture of one, but im guessing you have seen the m before. the cover has a spring to keep it down when not in use and when you lift it, and plug in the cord, the spring pulls the cover down against the cord and the tab grabs the cord. just some ideas. Edit: heres a picture of a door like that on a trailer brake plug. i would think you could put one of these doors about your plug on the genny: You can see the tab in the middle of the door that comes down and hold the cord in place. Savage Brewer
Honestly in 10+ years of using generators I haven't ever had an issue with cords wiggling out. What kind of generator do you have?
CAMAN
How old is your generator? The outlets may be worn out and may need replacing.
3pronghook
replace the outlet? put couple layers duct tape or electrical tape over outlets and then plug in cord. or try wrapping black tape around ground prong? I too have never had the problem.
fishwater
I also have bent the prongs out slightly so there was more friction on the blades, If slightly bent didn't work, bend them more until you have to work them in. Try bending the ground a bit down too. This is reminding me of a Frank Zappa song
