Nils power auger

I have a nils 8" power auger with the 48" bit. I was thinking of getting the shorter bit to save a little weight. Does anyone know the weight difference? Also the one I have has the power point. Can a non power point head be used on the power auger? Thinking of picking up a spare and thought the non power tip would be better for early ice hand drilling than the power tip version.

Yes either head will work as long as it is the red ones... weight differenence with the 42" should put you around the 18-19 pound range so will shave a couple pounds off....

I run the non power point 6" and it is 48". I originally wanted the 42" but with the ice getting thicker now I don't mind the 48.Less bending over. Light as can be as well.

I used mine once as a hand auger,8" power point, smoked my partners 5" Lazer....

You can use either with or with out the bit. I would think the point would be better for hand drilling.
