Water spigot shut off?

wait til it warms up a bit. Open the sillcock, shut off the water inside and if you have that little screw valve near the shut off open it up and it should drain onto the floor, done deal.

I just had a plumber out for some other things and he looked at what the irrigation company had done in shutting off water and they didn't do it this way so he educated me on how to do it.

Good chance you will have a issue in the spring or when it warms up again. Make sure to turn off the inside valves now or if they are broken all ready you will have a mess when it thaws. You can try to turn off the outside but good chance if there is frozen water in it it wont turn or drain.

If you can see the pipes from inside the house just look them over and feel how cold they are. If they are behind the wall who knows whats going on.

I spend plenty of time from march to may fixing broken lawn faucets. Its great money for us plumbers. Typical repairs run $200 to $500. That does not include wall repairs and is very cheap compared to the water damage these can cause.

Turn them off at Halloween and turn them back on around Easter. And yes you need to remove the hoses to. Frost proof faucets need to be turned off to.

Hi, for the first time (I think) I didn't shut off and drain my exterior house spigots. Do I have a problem coming in the future with bursted pipes? Do you all drain yours, any input would be nice, thx.

I assume from your post above that you do not have frost free faucets? If not, then the above advice is all good. If you do, then it should not be a concern if installed correctly.
