question about apple trees

ok tonight i scouted/hunted some public land and found a patch of crab apple trees. It had a lot of sign rubs, scrapes, trails, and droppings. i played the wind and i saw nothing! when i was scouting i was walking along the edge of a swamp i think/bet that is where they bed. I just keeped walking north and found some high ground and happened to walk upon this dump apples. the wind was not blowing in the swamp. but i just walked the edge. so i figure i would sit the night. i saw nothing.

. Ok i have a couple questions.

1. When i was scouting did busted up the area up when i walked the edge of the swamp before finding these apples? or did i have bad mojo?

2.next time i will be able to hunt this spot is dec 21. should i put up some trail cams? or just let it be. it is public and i do not want a cam stolen. On the other hand it would be nice to figure out how they move in this area and start to put the puzzle together

3. kind of a rookie questions... Late season worth hunting this area? or are the deer just using it at night. that is my worry!!! so should i hunt the trees or the transition areas between the swamp and the apples?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Putting cams on public land is a gamble, you've gotta ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

Cams are good and bad at the same time IMO.

As for the spot you never know until you hunt it, you have a better chance getting a deer there late season then you do sitting at your computer

wink
