Mount Rattle Reel on Bottom of Catch Cover

Has anyone ever mounted a rattle reel on the bottom side of a catch cover? Specifically the new clear catch covers. I am planning on buying a new fish house (forest river cherokeee 16GR) and I plan to take my niece (3) and nephew (4) out every weekend, if not more often. Due to obvious reasons I will need to have catch cover guards over the holes to prevent the little ones from falling in the hole, and my preference is the new clear polycarbonate covers.

Then I was thinking... It would be really nice if I could mount the rattle reels to the bottom of the clear hole covers. this way not only would the kids be safer with the covers in place but there would also be no chance of them catching a rattle reel line or something if they were mounted on the bottom of the cover.

Also if I were to do this I don't know what rattle reels to use? any thoughts? the electronic rattle reels that ive seen in the past (HT I believe) wouldn't be loud enough to hear. I could imagine that the best type of system would be something that would have a loud buzzer (or a remote buzzer) and a flashing LED to easily identify which hole it would be.

Thanks in advance.

Would this work for you? Go to the catch cover web site and check them out. Fish House Suppply has them too.

They make a grated type cover. I would look into those and use them with your regular set up. You can feed slack to the fish while you lift the cover off

Ive seen the grated type covers and the clear polycarbonate covers have holes in them as well and can be used with a regular set up... My thoughts are if I had a different style "electronic rattle reel" I could leave the drag loose enough to pull the cover up quickly with no problem. The big thing is I don't want to have the rattle reels up off the floor much because I can guarantee they will get snapped off, if not multiple times.

OR you could just set a few tip ups around your house. Although that would make it tough to get off the couch and x-box to put on slippers and go check em......lol

LOL very true... But if I were going to do that I would be better off just buying a camper.. and that's not what I want. I like to have fun ice fishing, and for some that may mean moving every 20 minutes to catch 5 fish... for me it may mean plopping my rear down "sitting on the couch and x-box" for 8 hours and only catching 1 fish... to be perfectly honest i'm fine with that! Sure if its a friend or two and I and we are out to catch the fish we will move around and try and get on the fish but when i'm with the niece and nephew its more of an "adventure" for them. Ill make some popcorn, probably turn on monsters inc and if we can catch a fish or two during that time GREAT
