Garmin Oregon 450t question

ETH310

Question

My old H2O finally died for good. I have been looking at the Garmin Oregon 450t and 550t online. I have an older lake master chip, 2007 or 2008, can't remember. My question is, does anybody know if the 450t or 550t is compatible with the older lake master chips? If not, is there any new model handhelds that will take the older lake master chips? I want to avoid dropping an extra $100+ on a new chip if possible. Thanks.

For openers, I think the older lakemaster chips are full size SD cards. I am pretty sure most of the new handhelds use the microSD card format. And you can't copy the big one to a small one. The S in SD stands for Secure, which refers to the copy protection mechanism built in to the chip.

So you would need to check if the unit you are considering would take a full size card. Maybe Lakemaster knows if there are any hand held units that would take your old card.
