rscabin
Need a new battery for my Yamaha 2001 Kodiak.Called a couple of places and the price ranged from $84.00 to $126.00. Wondering why the prices are so high for that small battery?

Mark Christianson
I have 1999 Kodiak, and I wonder the same thing. Holy crud!I bought a new one last year, and paid over 80 bucks from what I remember. What a rip.
rscabin
Batterys plus was 75 bucks for the battery I needed. From what I was told you just can not use any off the shelf battery.
Ruttin' Buck
Why, cause it might only last a year? If the dealer told you this it's because they make alot of money every year selling replacement parts. Even if you had to by 2 this year at that cost to test the cheaper batteries out, you wouldn't spend any more annually than you currently are. Dave
I know guys who have used the $35-40 batteries. They're on their 3rd year. Battery life also depends on how much they're used and maintained when not in use, too.
sledhead
Must Maintain Battery, or you'll be replacing them every year. NO the dealer doesn't make a Ton off them. You want a good batter Buy a YAUSA, I have had the same battery in my motorcycle for 9 years I maintain a good charge in it all year.Note: when filling a battery for the first time be is old school or new school maintainance Free It must sit for atleast 30 minutes with the caps off so the electrolyte can absorb into the lead and charged at the manufacturers recommended charge rate. Usually .8-1.8 amps for atleast 8 hours. If your battery goes bad with in a year on a brand new machine it was mostly not serviced correctly. Ex. Tousleys Spot delivery They battery's are not serviced until the machine it bought.
