Cleaning a .223

Recommended Posts

This may be a dumb question but I want to be sure. I have only ever had shotguns and muzzleloaders and when cleaning them I have always used a bristle brush WITH a patch when cleaning the barrel. Recently my wife and I bought a .223 for Coyote hunting. We got it sighted in and when I went to clean it theres no way getting the bristle brush down the barrel with a patch on it. Can I just use the bristle brush down the barrel and then use a cloth brush afterwords or am I gonna scratch the dump out of the inside of the barrel. I really don't see any other way of doing it. Thanks for your help guys!
