License plate from 1933 found

My family has land on an old farmsite/resort. While mushroom hunting I found an old rusty license plate part of it pictured with a mushroom. It has a 33 on it which I figure is from 1933. I think its cool and hung it in the kids room. My grandfather who was a drivers examiner for the state thinks it is worth its weight in gold, I personally don't agree. We now have a $5 bet hanging in the balance and I said I would try to find out if he is right or if he owes me five bucks. All said any thoughts where I could find out if it has any value? Just knowing would make my grandpa happy.

Thanks Cicada but I don't want to steal from you. I'll tell grandpa to pay up. I like it, I'm hanging it in the cabin next to my beer can collection.

I have a few old ones that I've picked up at antique stores over the years. I agree that $5 is about right in that condition.
