winterizing 150hp 4-stroke

I bought a new boat this past spring and I will need to winterize it in the next couple of months. I have winterized a 15hp 4-stroke motor but am worried about screwing something up on my new motor. Does anyone do their own winterizing that can give me some tips? Or should I just pay $200+ to have someone do it for me?

I have a 150 Suzuki and winterized it every year myself since new. First thing I do prior to worrying about winterizing is put seafoam in the gas tank with some fresh gas. Some guys say fill tank of fuel but I have always had about a half tank. Run the boat a few times on the water with the seafoam and add gas and seafoam depending on how much you are using the boat.

Change your oil, new oil filter, lower unit lube and replace your fuel water separator filter (assuming it has one).

Then its ready to go for winter. No need to fog or anything. But if you can have someone do it for you it may be worth it as its a mess. Cost wise I spend around $100 so provided the place will do all the things I mentioned that may be worth it to you.

Some folks like to pour some rv antifreeze in the live wells and so forth as well, just to be safe.

So long as mine is under warranty I have the man do it. That way there isn't any question about doing it right. And if you ask nice they can give you a printout from the motor's computer with hours, total and broken down by rpm range among other fun data.
