MN FAll Season

Just looking for input on the fall season. I've only hunted Spring before. What are the different strategies?

Also I've still seen hens with small chicks at my place. I don't plan on shooting a hen this year, but it's allowed in the fall?

They can be pattern better in the fall. If you can find a roost spot and feeding pattern that is a bonus.Calling can work I've called in many in the fall using he kee-kee , yelps and purrs. Yes you can take a hen that is not a problem they have already been through the breeding season. I take the first bird I get a chance at in the fall.I hunt them while hunting for deer so I do not mess up my woods for the deer. So once I get one in I will take that bird with the bow.

I usually spot & stock them after getting off morning bow stand or on after work hunts. I shoot the best bird I can get a decent shot at, usually you're hunting groups. I think I've shot 3 fall birds & the fewest I've shot at were a pair of toms, otherwise it's usually smaller tom groups or hens & young ones, 5-15, whatever. I've seen a lone hen occasionally, but not been close enough.

I'm hunting private land, making stalking much safer. The two toms I referred to we did call into a blind though. We didn't actually kill either of those however, perhaps THE single biggest screw up in all of my adult, experienced, hunting outings.
