Brainerd area channels

Since moving away from Crookston 6 years ago, I haven't thrown a line for cats. The bug is really starting to get to me and I'm trying to find some smaller rivers for channels in the Brainerd area for some shore fishing. I have heard they are starting to catch them below the dam in Brainerd but there has to be a better fishery for some smaller stream channels within 30 minutes of Brainerd. Anyone willing to share a spot with an addicted channel cat guy? PAAALLLLLLLLEEEEEEEAAAAASSSEEEEE!

The Sauk river is a heck of a fishery but that is closer to 60 min out.

No Flats North of the Coon Rapids dam plenty of channels though, even a few nicer ones.

Below the dam in Royalton is a pretty good spot. Can get a nice walleye or 2 mixed in as well.
