I'm going to buy a new house soon and want to know if the is another brand of shacks I should look at ? So far the wife and i like the Ice castle LOW hybrid and Gambler . We looked at the True North and Lodge but not that impressed with them . I'm alittle scared of the all Alum. Yetti . What else should I look at ?

I like the Ice Castle floor plans, I am just wondering if their frames have gotten any better...? I know a few years ago they were building the frames out of angle iron, and people were haveing probelms with the frames getting bent or tweaked. I was just wondering if they have switched to like a tube frame or anything. Otherwise Carsella has nice shacks to for the money and they have tube frames on all their sizes. I think last I remember Ice Castle you had to get a 18' or bigger to get a tube frame. Plus I wish Ice Castle or someone would make a 8x14 house. I really would like to keep the house as small as possible but yet be able to sleep 4 (the wife and 2 kids). If Ice Castle makes a tube frame on their 16' houses I may consider one of those myself as they do seem to make good use of the space.

I'm pretty sure Ice Castle has tube frames on all sizes now. It seems like they've made an effort to have better quality in the last few years.

Plenty of reviews on Carsella houses and business operation/customer service on this site and others.

Ice Assault has an 8x12 & 8x14' size.

I have a custom cottage and one of the advantages is that you sit down with Eric and design the whole thing to what you want including hole configuration, windows, size, V or not, etc. They are bit more expensive because they are aluminum frames and custom built to how you want them, but I really like the one they built me a couple years ago.

I just got my new Ice Castle Gambler !! It pulled nice , I was worried about that . All in all it looks great . they could try to do a better job on the cedar trim an finish . I can't wait to take the wife and kid out ice camping/fishing .

Glad you like the Gambler. IMHO Ice Castle makes a great product. This video is from a year ago. They do NOT use angle iron. In fact, I think they've even started offering a galvanized frame if you so choose. I have the 17' RV and love it for both summer and winter use and I couldn't be happier!!

I have the 8x21 rv model and like it. You can use it year around. We just used it for bear hunting and it worked like a dream. The only thing I would have changed was to have it spray foamed and I should have gotten the bigger fridge. Other than that, its nice.

When I was in the market for a new house last year almost pulled the trigger on a Carsella shack. Had a 20ft shack rack full hydro frame but didn't have the time or effort to build on it. Ended up selling the frame and picked up a 20ft hydro dream shak.

My buddy, an engineer had something come up financially a couple years ago and was less than a day away from pulling the trigger on a Carsella shack. He didn't even look at the ice castles...

Another shack that looked quality is performance engineering, not sure if their still around though.
