Lowrance Elite 7 HDI Combo

I was looking at buying the Elite 7 HDI combo, and getting the Lake Insight Pro 2013 chip to run in it. Has anyone used this unit, and how did you like it? The chiip says that it covers lake of the wood. Does anyone know how far into Canada it covers? Thanks for the info.

I dont have that unit, but I do have the chip you are considering.

The chip covers all of the US LOW plus 1 foot contours up into Canada a considerable ways. I went on a trip in June out of Sioux Narrows and then 23 miles by boat to an island. The contour lines stopped about 1/4 mile to the south of the island we camped on. Anything to the north was not mapped.

As a point of reference we were straight south of kenora.

I bought a Navionics Platinum HotMap prior to the trip because I knew my chip wasnt going to cover where we were.

Though it wasnt mapped in HD detail (no 1 or 3 ft contours) all of the hazards were marked with a number symbol indicating depth. It would have depth readings as well, but not to the detail we have been accustomed to.

Regarding your HDI, there have been a few posts out here with those that have bought it. Look in the Equipment Expert, and Boats and Motors sections. The "Search" halfway down the left side of the page will also help you find them.
