Sod or hydroseed?

Anyone have any opinions on sodding vs hydroseeding? Most of my yard has some degree of slope......not much of it is flat which has me leaning towards sod.

We sodded around the house out about 25 yds when we built 4 years ago and hydroseeded the remaining 80% of the yard. 4 yrs later the hydoseeded grass is much healthier, the sodded area can get blotchy and burns quite easily in hot sun so have to water it more often. We loved having the "instant lawn" with the sod but now 4 yrs later wish we would have hydroseeded it all....that has been my experience.

Unless you are going to fertilize monthly and water almost daily, hydro seeding will get you a healthier, stronger yard in the long run.

I really believe you will end up with a much nicer lawn if you seed it over sod. Yes sod is an instant lawn but I think the seed will give you a better looking lawn.
