Bilge Pump / Grounding Question

Recommended Posts

Looking for some opinions.....

Found out my Bilge Pump was going bad, ordered in a replacement the other day and I'm ready to reinstall it.

The Bilge Pump is a Mayfair 750 GPH and it's run by a remote float switch and it's all wired direct to the battery.

My old wiring had the ground coming from the battery to a anode on the bottom of the boat ( much like the picture below ) then it would run to the Bilge Pump.

The positive run from the battery to the float switch then to the pump.

Since the pump is sealed, do I have to worry about stray voltage? The boat is an aluminum Lund and it sits in the water all summer.

Let me know what you think.

Mike

Are you saying there is only a positive wire coming from the new bilge pump?

If so I would look in the manual but there may be a screw somewhere on the outside of the pump that could be used for grounding.
