Bohning bowfishing kit

I put this kit together last night. I followed the instructions but it feels strange to only attach the fishing line to the sliding plastic arrow thing (knotted about 4 inches). I believe the slider is supposed to help prevent arrow bounceback. Has anyone else used this kit? Am I missing something from the way I described attaching the arrow? Sorry just a bit paranoid being I haven't shot a fish arrow in 25 years.

I know its a cheap kit but I have a cheap budget. Any additional tips for a dummy like me are also appreciated.

Yes to that is how they work. The slider will stop on the rubber stopper that is held to the arrow with the small screw.

The work great I have had a lot of mishaps where the string gets stuck on something and the arrow hasn't came flying back like they did in the old days.

Also make sure when you knock the arrow the screw sop on the knock end of the arrow is up so it doesn't hit your rest.

and make sure the slider is always IN FRONT of the arrow rest

also, watch for potential tangles on launch if the rope gets behind the reel
