Tomato plant color.

I've seen the plants in my garden starting to turn to a darker shade of what I think is green... Mind you I am red green colorblind so it may not actually be green. Planted the Friday of memorial weekend, has been windy and rainy with what seems to be "cool"temps as well.

You can see in the pic that the plant is darker in some areas. Is this something I should be concerned with? I thought the weather may be the issue. Plants are in a garden mix of soil from a local greenhouse and have only been watered with rain water.

Thoughts?

Yeah it's just fine... When you first plant tomatoes into colder soil (Which we have this spring) and then you get cool/wet weather a lot of times the lower leaves show a little sign of transplant shock, because they are used to life in a nice loving greenhouse.

The upper leaves adjust faster because they plant is putting it's energy into them.

One minor spot of concern for later is that lower leaves that have reacted to minor transplant shock are more suceptible to the spores of "Early Blight."

It wouldn't be a bad idea to spray a little organic copper sulfide on the lower leaves in a week or two (When the Early Blight spores tend to be taking to the wind for the first time) Especially if there is high humidity.

If you wait until you see spots on the lower leaves, you'll be fighting it all summer long.

Thanks for the insight.

They still seem to be doing about the same as in that picture. Haven't really had any nice weather since then. Maybe 2 days of good sun. Everything else in the raised beds seem to be doing well.
