Best Point and Shoot Camera for around $100

My camera took a dump this weekend so I need a new digital camera for taking pictures in the boat. Something with good zooming qualities. Not too big.

What do you guys know of in this price range. Give or take 25 bucks.

Phone cameras have come a long way, but they still don't compare to point and shoot cameras. They are terrible in low light conditions (even cloudy days) and the zoom is a joke (digital, not optical).

I would stay away from Nikon, my family had 3 of them and 2 of them broke completely on their own. I then went to a Casio, and I am not thrilled with the picture quality. I would go Canon if it was me! Whatever you do, get one with a rechargeable battery.

I have had good luck with canon elph's. But an important thing is to try the user interface. See if you can make it do what you want to do.

AT that price there isn't much difference in quality, is my opinion

Try the pawn shops,my wife found a nice one for 25 bucks a couple of days ago.You can test them out too while your there.

I would second the canon recommendation. I got my girlfriend one of their point and shoot superzooms and it is a great camera. Its the canon powershot 230HS but it wont be in your price range. It was right around $200. I know thats not real helpful, but definitely check out the cheaper canons as I'm sure they are a lot of bang for your buck.

If you know someone that has a E bay account you can get them for around $100(camera only)I bought a package deal that had camera, memory card, case, table tripod, charger and adapter so you can plug in you memory card to your computer for $139. One for me and one for my daughter. We haven't had them long, but so far seem like a good camera for the outdoors.

I got a used Panasonic FZ28 from that online auction site a few weeks ago and am VERY impressed with it. 18X zoom, good Leica lense, 10 megapixels, easy to use, and paid under $100.00 for it. Definitely a huge step up from the standard point and shoot digitals that I've used the last 10 years or so. The picture quality is so much better. Check out the reviews on them, I think you would be happy.

I got myself a Sony Visa credit card. Sony then gave me $100 worth of points as a thank you. After spending some time looking on their store HSOforum, I found a Sony Cyber-shot DSCW610 for $98. How could I say no to a free camera. You can find the 100 reviews at 4.3/5 on Amazon and used/refurbished for $60. Perhaps you want to get a Sony Visa and you might get $100 for a free camera too.
