SpiderWire Stealth Braid?

RuddyDuck

Recommended Posts

I found some of this on sale for $5 a 150yd spool. I figured that was right up my price range and worth a shot. I see it is normally priced around $13 at Cabelas. Is this decent, crappy or ok Braid? I put it on two poles and seems to cast fine and not dig in too bad. I just noticed on the line thread that no one listed it.

Just deciding for that price if I should grab another spool of it or not. Right now I put it on my frog pole in the 65lb version.

Also, who actually is the company that makes it?

Thanks.

I use it on my northern/musky rods. I mostly like it, strong fairly cut resistant(to the point of me opting to mostly not use leaders with it). But whenever I have left a spool with it for more than about a year it begins to get really weak and fray.

I've used it in the smaller diameters. Mostly 10 or 15lb. I found it will cast farther and smoother than power pro when throwing light baits on spinning tackle. Can't say anything bad about it. I havn't really put it through any abrasion tests in heavy cover.

Hiya -

Nothing wrong with Spiderwire - have used it off and on for bass and muskies both for several years. I used to get miles of the stuff when I worked more closely with Pure Fishing. It's a very serviceable braid - very good considering what you paid for it. The coating does tend to come off after a while but the fish don't care.

Spiderwire is a Pure Fishing (Berkley/Fenwick/Abu Garcia/Penn/etc.) brand.
