DARK30
I would love to use some hemlock as an evergreen hedge. I've planted some before with no luck..anybody got tips for central minnesota zone 4? Suposedly, it grows fine here. I did have great luck with arborvitae in another spot but wondering how a mix would work.

DARK30
Its really nice rich black dirt in this spot. I don't know about the ph...need to do some learning. It will be about a half day sun.
delcecchi
Ph refers to the acidity or alkalinity of the soil. They sell cheap test kits in garden departments. Hemlock likes slightly acid soil (below 7 but not too far below) and doesn't like salt, like spray from road or runoff from driveway.
