La Crosse area streams

Drove around a little bit today, a lot of the streams are pretty clear despite the recent weather. If things hold should be a little murky come Sunday.

Hit a couple of area streams this morning. Lower stretches are still high and stained, upper stretches still a bit stained. Wind was 30mph and hailing, terrible fishing. I caught a few but didn't fish for long.

Went out with my boy for a few hours today and caught a good mix of close to 30 browns and brookies in about two hours.

Bum ankle has me staying close to bridges but the what I can tell the few places I have been to the water is clear, despite the rainfall.

Glad I got out when I did... streams are blown out with all this rain. Weekend is leaving me with a photoshoot, but I'll see what Sunday brings.

La Crosse area streams are clearing up now that it hasn't rained. Focus on head waters and smaller streams.

Found a nice little stream just outside of Sparta. Lots of brookie action.

I was planning for a long morning of fishing in the area, but woke to the sounds of rain and decided against it.

wasn't raining too hard where we were at until around noon- but constant rain inspired me to leave my camera in the truck.

We'll have to go out sometime Lunker.

did a little drive around yesterday and today- the storm pummeled a lot of area creeks, but the smaller ones and header waters were clearing up..

Streams were in pretty good shape today. One was a bit murky but I think it was a result of cattle. Caught about 30 browns and 1 brookie. All under 14", managed to lose the 4 nicest fish I hooked including one very large fish. Time to get a stiffer rod I think.

Did a little pre-storm fishing with my son today- HOLY BUCKETS they were on FiRe!! wow- we had a blast.

Went out yesterday afternoon in Vernon County. Lots of fish swatting baits so had trouble getting good hooksets on many fish. Did manage 16 browns and 2 brookies. Biggest browns were a few in the 14-15 inch range, and biggest brookie was 10-11".

Great day in La Crosse County Kept it at 4 so I can keep fishing, but caught well over a dozen bridge hopping and fishing on flat terrain; ankle blew out after about a half hour.

Hey Hook!.....take this in the right spirit, but as an old media guy, the last thing people want to see is a plate of headed, gutted and gilled trout. Hole 'em up purty for the camera out on the stream. Then we don't wanna see 'em again!

Hope you had a good fish fry. Those were gorgeous little browns and you had a good trip.

Trout are really tasty. Not sure there's a problem with keepin 4 smaller ones for some food.
