Humminbird and i pilot

hitthebricks

Question

I think its time to replace my Minkota auto pilot with a new model.

Question is, are the new i pilots compatible with a Humminbird 997?

This is going on a Crestliner 2050 Sportfish, any suggestions?

Money is a little bit of a concern this year since I need to replace all three batteries and four trailer tires.

Thanks

HTB

Are you looking to add the iPilot Link system? The 997 is compatible with the iLink, but I think the detail will be better on the 998 HD version. The processor on the 998 will be faster as well, so it will allow your screen to refresh at a much faster speed without having any delays with the capacity of the chip.

Just a new IPilot does not require a Humminbird of any sort to run.

If your getting the IPilot Link, then you will need an ethernet model Humminbird to begin with.

If you want to use the "follow the contour " mode, then you will also need a 2013 v4 Lakemaster chip in the Bird.

... and a loan to pay for it all cry

If you think about it, all this high tech stuff isn't really that expensive. Think about how much money a guy spends on liquor, tobacco, pop and other vices. You could have a boat full of the latest stuff without other reckless spending.

Well I don't smoke or drinks pop but plenty of other vices, one is GOLF, being that other four lettered word. The good thing is the bride also loves to both fish and golf but I draw the line when she wants my truck to haul the boat but does not invite me. : )

It sounds like the "I" thing is an addition to other Minnkota trolling motors. If that's right what trolling motor should I add it to?

Thanks again

Both can be installed on, or purchased as a package with, either the Powerdrive V2 or Terrova motors.
