Yooperguy
Ummmm once again your starting to get cross eyed for no reason. First I'm not even talking methodology, I'm talking protection. Here's what I think should happen. The Dnr should identify about 30 lakes across the state and have zero harvest of pike above 34 inches on them. I think if they did this on lakes knowen for producing trophy pike this would be a great start. Then as the DNR sees that size starting to go up then they could slide that Max size up as they see fit. Notice everyone would have the same rule and it's great a few of us do practice responsible selective harvest . But unfortunately many more do not this is why you need regulations put in place. Once again this is not a spearing vs angling topic.

20lbSloughShark
Merkman I don't think I have ever agreed with someone more in my life. There are lots of restrictions on certain lakes, from slot limits, to banning live bait, etc.. More would not help the species at all, and if you ask me they are thriving in size and numbers in nearly every river, lake, and pond in northern US and canada.
