TFO Rods

The sports show had a deal on these rods (temple fork outfitters) for Half off So I bought two of them for $100.00. They feel real decent and I like the way they were made- Could anyone tell me anything about them ? Did I get a good deal or is the Normal price for these $50.00 already- I did an internet search and couldnt find much about them - Thanks

TFO is a brand, they make an array of rods.

I have a "lefty kreh signature II" and love it, probably retails at a bit above a hundred? The "BVK" is held in very high regard and is pricier.

If you can find out what model you have, you can find out more about it. TFO makes nice rods and I'm likely picking up something from them for my next rod, so if you got a rod at half off that's a fantastic deal.

Did you buy a spinning rod or a fly rod? That will have a big impact on price.

TFO has traditionally been a fly rod manufacturer and they have a reputation in that industry for making a good rod at a good price.

I did a lot if research before the Sportshow and also picked some up. They were the TFO spinning rods and are called the "Signature Series". They also make the Tactical series as well for a little more. I was going to buy a Tactical series rod, but had a long chat with a TFO salesman at Reed's booth. The biggest difference between the two are the Signature Series uses a little cheaper rod guides, and are a fraction heavier, but that is why they are a little cheaper.

He also told me that the reason why Reeds had a buy one get one free special is that they are last year's models (very slight manufacturing changes), and also want to get their name out there more. I also was told they are rated just a bit stiffer than many other brands, so he recommended going with a light instead of a medlight.

Everything posted on here is accurate! TFO has been known, and still is for quality, affordable high performance Fly rods, they have teamed up with Mr.Gary Loomis and have been in the conventional fishing rod market for a few years now. The reason you haven't seen them, is they just haven't been marketed in the mid-west. That is changing! The deal at the NW show was hands down the deal or should I say "steal" of the show! Folks that bought the "buy one get one" just purchased 2 Loomis rods for a hundred bucks! Now, Gary is a legendary rod builder, and TFO is all about Customer service, that spells WIN WIN for the novice angler to professionals alike! The signature series rods that were being closed out were last years models, cosmetic changes is the only difference to this years models and are backed by a lifetime warranty! Reeds will have a few more close outs at this weekends Musky Expo, we will also have our line of Tactical series Muskie rods at Reeds booth! Hall of fame angler AL Maas worked with Gary Loomis and TFO to create a 6'11", 7'11" and an 8'6" Muskie rod that is second to NONE! And will save you money to boot!! Check them out!!

For what it's worth.............The buy one get one free deal from Reeds is still available in store as well as posted on their HSOforum. For all of the people that look back with regrets, you can have another chance. I personally am excited to use my new rods. I think they look and feel great. Bring on open water!
