Grow lights

If any of you folks use grow lights when starting plants, what type of lights do you use?

I just use the regular 4 foot ones.You can get some specifically made for plants.Much more expensive.Just make sure the plants are no more than a few inches below the light.Otherwise they will stretch and get leggy.

I start almost all mine in flats or pots and then transplant into single containers when they have at least 2 regular leaves.After transplanting,they don't have to be so close to the light.

I bought the 400 watt system with metal halide and sodium vapor and wish I would have gone with a T8 6 or 8 bank row. They were expensive a year ago but are affordable now. Get the lights within a couple inches of the plants and keep them on for 16 hours. You will want to use a timer to keep the light to dark time consistant
