Camping in Washburn

I'm planning on a weekend fishing trip to chequamegon bay in late april. Does anyone know if either of the two campgrounds (memorial park, thompson's west end park) in washburn are open that time of year? I got some info on them from the city's HSOforum, but it doesn't say wether they're open that early or not.

If memory serves me right they are not open that early.

We used to go there in late april right after ice out and they were open then.

Yeah, I'm hoping to get up there to chase some salmon. Camping would be my only affordable option though.

Im planning my first salmon fishing trip. Is this the best place for it? After seeing a documentary on them, I definitely would rather fish for them more at the beginning of their run. Toward the end they look like fish zombies and probably taste like liverwurst.
