Blackhawkxp
Just wondering if there is something on the market that would enable an angler to safely tag a trophy fish or any fish for that matter similar to banded water foul. I think it would be kind of cool to be able to see when the fish was last caught, size/weight, last person to catch that particular fish. DTro
I would absolutely LOVE to do this and then have an online database that is publicly accessed and updated. Unfortunately there would no doubt be issues with people tagging them improperly or worse yet Walmart selling 20 different kind of tags and you end up catching a fish looking like this. dan z
That picture is hilarious, I too would like to tag and release but there are laws in this state that hinder you for doing so.
Scott M
Most entities doing fish tagging are governmental or academic institutions for research purposes. To do your own "research" with fish tags, you'd have to follow protocols set forth by the USDA through the Animal Welfare Act, pass Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) review, get permission from Minnesota DNR, then proceed. It'd be a lot easier on private waters.
