Baitcaster/Spinning Wheel Question

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am just about considering having someone make me a custom rod. I think I want to put about $160-$200 into the complete process. Is this a 'good' or 'reasonable investment' for a decent setup?

Also, when you guys finish your rods, how much or how nice of a reel baitcast or spinning as far as dollars are concerned? Would putting a $200 reel on it be "normal", or do people spend more or even less than that?

I appreciate your time.

For the most part it will depend on what you are asking for as for price. There are rod blanks that cost over $200. But that being said, I would think you would be able to get a pretty decent rod built for -$200. Reel, again, depends on what you feel you need. Spinning reel is going to be a bit cheaper than a baitcaster.
