regretting not fishing tonight, what a great stable weather pattern. Heard from a buddy he did very well on a detroit lakes area lake. scored some big tank bluegills. But really had to work for them, or work to get to them. Planning on going on an all out crazy all for nothing mission tomorrow on a lake Ive always wanted to hit. Three guys, three augers and a ton of ambition grin

My back already hurts just thinking about it!!

Well the weather couldn't have been better yesterday, minimal wind, blaring sun, and the temps were hovering around the 30 degree mark. This new lake turned out to be a heck of a walk, I figured we hoofed out a good 1/2 mile or so and fished for 4 or 5 hours. The fishing was very typical for this type of shallow bowl type lake, catch a fish here and there, and scratch your head wondering where they went. The fish that we caught were quality fish though, the biggest crappie was 15", the biggest gill was 10.5" and we even caught a walleye pushing the 3lb mark. Everything, as always, went back into the lake healthy and waiting for someone else to catch it. Here is a couple of pictures.

Went out this afternoon and got a few.....missed a few. Did not bring heater thought it would be warmer than it was, got cold and quit before the good bite, pic of a few keepers. Got one on a lindy darter and had another big one hit it got it into the hole and the back treble it was hooked on broke off at the end....plastic and all, very strange. Same Darter you use Jim...I'll have to show it to you.

It must have been a shark!!

The guys I fished with on Saturday were some hardcore panfish nuts also, Brad and Kevin, two class act guys that I would share the ice or a boat with anytime. They are out there for the sport of it, they share the passion for big panfish like most of us.

I didnt make it out tonight, I should have but, oh well! It was good to rest up and hang with the kids!

A buddy of mine and his Nephew fished late evening last night, it was a strange bite....large Gills (9"-9.5") were biting way after dark, caught many small crappies 6-8" that I have never caught in this spot....but we did manage some nice crappies as well, pic of a couple.

Oh I hope those gills went back into the lake!!

My weekend was spent doing something I've never done before. Fish Lakers, something I have never done so I bolted north and gave Burntside Lake a whirl with my friend Steve Foss. Fishing was slow, and everyone we spoke to said the same thing, but that's the way fishing goes! I didn't catch one but Steve did, and it was a blast fishing with him. The weather was beautiful, hot in fact! Here is a couple pics of Steve and his beautiful fish.

Still 3 ft of ice and plenty of snow up north, makes traveling on the ice difficult. The crappies are still in mid-winter mode for the most part. The fish probably think its February still. Did manage to catch a dozen or so on a small private lake in about 22 ft of water. 10-13" crappies were suspended well off bottom.
