That is a very nice article on Jim. It is an eye opener for me and will make me think twice before driving on the ice ill prepared for the worst case scenario.

Thanks for the link Steve--its a pretty sad story--couple of little things been different--it might have turned out better.

I talked to Jim one time at the Washburn landing several years ago when I was down there bear huntin and we shared several PMs and phone calls. He was keenly interested in fishing big lakers here and I wanted to fish the Bay with him but the stars just never lined up--you know how it is.

Its a reminder that the Big Gitch can kill ya--even the knowledgeable and prepared.

I do indeed. I'd wanted to get down and fish with Jim and have him up to Burntside, and of course you already know of my interest in Nipigon. I'd also exchanged several PMs with him about starting an association of guides on Facebook from different regions who knew each other in person and/or by reputation so we could confidently point clients to excellent guides in other places when they asked us.
