How heavy steel in an 8 x 14 frame?

I'm going to build an 8 x 14 plus a v trailer. Can I use 2 x 4 x 1/8 or 3/16 steel or does it need to be heavier(1/4)? I'm still debating on 16 ft but also debating on 12 ft so 14 for opinions will be ok as they would be the same wouldn't they? I'm looking for the difference in materials cost vs. buying a frame. I have no problem doing the welding and labor.

Most commercial builders use 1/8" steel for the frame, and something heavier for the tongue. 2x4 should be plenty for the frame.

As long as you are using square stock 1/8 will be just fine for the frame . As Lip_RipperGuy said, something heavier for the tongue, I used 1/4
