First decoy

With tons of help from PGF and all the recent carving advice posts...here is my first decoy. Only thing left is clear coat.

Looks good! Now you to make some bigger ones,smaller ones, red and white ones........and so on.

nice job, i was pretty bummed this year haven't had a chance to really work on any made a couple but they were pretty rough looking and one made it to the trash

What do I apply to seal or finish it? I have some spray on lacquer, but was I supposed to apply that first?

I spray before water test with clear krylon, then after paint I usually brush on a "spar" varnish.

i have also used a spar varnish just have to be careful on the color of varnish if mine goes on to thick it really gives it a darker color

Well PGF weighted it and one his decoys has one a Nord Lord (2011 Winnie Rengel) so I hope to e in good shape.
