Solo 2.5 Leaking Gas

I guess I would rather spend under $1 replacing a fuel line than countless hours (over the years) scooping all the ice shavings left in the hole from a Nils or chiropractor bills from lugging around a fat eskimo.

The only thing about ethanol fuel is there is a warning about using E85.

LOL. I guesss I would prefer a reliabile brand of auger vs a light one that consistenly has issues.

My skmo weighs about the same as my buddies SM's, within a pound or two and it cuts way easier. It is actually more work to drill holes with a light auger that can't cut or start vs one that starts right up and rips through the ice. I can only drill about 25 holes straight with a SM (yes sharp blades) but I have never reached a max with my M43 Mako because it cuts so nice. I can drill holes with only one hand on the auger until it is about to punch through. I took a trip this winter with my buddies and they had three SM's along and each one had a different issue, fortunately we had the trusty hand auger with.

All in all everyone likes their own brand and you are clearly a SM guy. To be honest if I were buying a new auger right now I would go with the Jiffy propane. Starts mint and cuts like butter.

Good luck with your gas lines and check the tank for cracks if that doesn't fix it.

Do I own a Strikemaster? Yes, does that make me a Strikemaster man? NO!

I have no allegiance to anyone. The only other auger I would consider right now is a Nils, but I could not find them anywhere around me when I bought my solo.

I would gladly put my gas leaking (only when tipped on its side, full tank of fuel and bouncing down the road BTW) strikemaster solo against your Eskimo in a cutting contest. 25 holes? Pfft. Thats nothing.

If you are afraid of gas leaks on the strikemasters you better stay away from the jiffy propane since I hear some are having issues with it leaking propane.

mine hasn't started leaking yet.

4 or 5 years old, with corn gas in every tank.

I would say you have been very lucky Bobby.

Alot of people have had issues with the fuel lines breaking and leaking, not just a few.

I now know there are issues with this so I will change my line every 2 years and no issues then.

As easy as a 5 minute job and a buck.

When you notice the gas and oil around the tank area and carb, you will know what the problem is.

Hope it lasts for you.

I would agree with you Captain.

The Nils auger is hard to beat. Light, very fast cutting and Frank sharpens the blades as reasonable as anywhere with a quick turn around time.

I like my Solo and it cuts well but if I had to say which one is better, it would be the Nils.

I don't need to do any contests. I have drilled with countless SM's and I know how they cut. Good luck with your issues and attitude my friend.
I have one issue, not issues. Funny how Im the one with the attitude when you came here not even owning one of the pieces of equipment in question and throw your two cents in about "shoulda bought and eskimo".
