Gadgetman
So I scored a Striker bag from Korkys in White Bear yesterday and it is a pretty nice bag. Perhaps a little bigger than I really wanted...now I will be bringing along the kitchen sink. It is a bit of a challenge to get rods with jigs still on them into the tubes. I bought some of the Todays Tackle tackle pouches but they seem to get caught up on the edges of the tubes when you put the rods in and take them out of the bag. Anybody else have an idea short of taking the jigs off the rods? It does take up a good share of the space in my Voyager, leaving just enough room for the big buddy and maybe a propane tank if I can figure out how to secure the tank so it doesnt roll around. I would perhaps agree with an earlier observation about the big compartment being a bit on the weak side. the fabric is kind of thin with some type of plastic coating on the back side that keeps it water proof but it remains to be seen if it is going to stand up to cold weather. I will assume that the Striker folks thought about that and I am getting concerned about nothing. An added bonus is they are a St. Paul company. Wanderer
It does take up a good share of the space in my Voyager, leaving just enough room for the big buddy and maybe a propane tank if I can figure out how to secure the tank so it doesnt roll around. I have a Voyager also. My 20# tank sits in a milk crate behind the seat opposite the hitch end of the tub. It never moves. My rod bag slides down in the remaining room behind the seats and I keep a tote between the seats that carries my heater, lantern and other possibles. When I'm set up, the top of the tote makes a good table.I don't know if it's the best set up but it works for me.

Anybody else have an idea short of taking the jigs off the rods? Here is what I did. I have the same pouches as you. I attach that around the lure and leave extra line out so the lure (jig or spoon, whatever) is down near the reel instead of inside the tube.Problem solved.Create a box or use a milk crate for your propane tank. Those things can do a savage beating if you let them roll around.
fisherman-andy
This is what I use to protect my Striker Ice bag from the hooks while storing lure/rod together inside it. You have 3 options. The pouch, the foam plug, and the plastic treble hook snaps.
CaptainMusky
Andy, what are those product names and where did you find them?Tried some searches and came up empty.
fisherman-andy
Andy, what are those product names and where did you find them?Tried some searches and came up empty. The Hook M foam protector plugs you can find them at Fleet Farm. Them pouches I think you already know most fishing sporting goods will sell them. I got the pouches at Joes Sporting Goods. As far as the plastic treble hook snaps the only place you can find them is online. Just do a word search with treble hook protector. Gadgetman
Great idea! I like the foam things too. Thanks guys. I often put the propane tank in a box on the back of my wheeler so its not a huge problem
Lusid
MTM Ice Fishing Rod Box (Red) Here's my .02cents from receiving the package just yesterday. The foam inserts do not hold/stay very well. I will need to secure but all other aspects of this case is pretty solid. I'm pretty sure I can get 5-6 rod/reels based on how I position the reel/rod combos. 8 rods yes but not 8 rod/reels. I will actually add some PVC piping to help guide my rods in. Stay tuned for updates. Pictures Below: OLD BAG Includes two small blue containers!
